Indonesian and Nepalese blue helmets are jointly building a road from Dungu to Faradje.

Dungu, 28 May 2010- High expectations are put in the road currently being built between the two remote cities. Expected to unlock Dungu's and it's surrounding's relative isolation and to stimulate economy in the area it will be approximately 150 km long with 30 km completed so far.

Used by trucks, cars, motorcycles and bicycles alike finished stretches of the road have become the most important trading route in the area and a rise in small businesses is already visible.

Having started the construction in November 2009, Bagus Jamitko from the Indonesian engineering Company is confident that "with a constant and stable progress that we have maintained right to this very point, the goal to reach 80 km by September for our part of the project shall be accomplished."

From km 80 the Nepalese blue helmets will take over the construction work.

Security during the construction activities is ensured by Moroccan blue helmets and FARDC soldiers who are with the engineers at all times.

Apart from boosting the economy in the area the road is expected to highly increase the level of security by facilitating the mobility of security forces.
