MONUC contributes to restore peace in Bukavu

MONUC hails the implementation of the agreements and resolutions aimed to reach a political solution to the tensions that affected Bukavu. MONUC also hails the Government's concern to find a political solution and expresses its gratitude to the Bukavu Archbishop for the fruitful cooperation, which he initiated with MONUC in order to prevent clashes in the town of Bukavu.

MONUC's major concern remains the situation of the civilian populations in the town of Bukavu. MONUC should very much like to see the constructive spirit shown by all the parties continue in order to facilitate a swift return of the situation to normal.
