Kinshasa, DRC, 1st April 2005: MONUC underlines that the Security Council has unanimously adopted Resolution 1592 dated 30 March 2005.
MONUC interprets the unanimous resolution that extends its mandate until October 1st, 2005, as a clear sign that the Security Council firmly supports MONUC's work and the recent actions undertaken by its troops on the ground.
MONUC wishes to take this opportunity to reassert its determination to fully execute its mandate, under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations, and to mobilize all efforts in order to accomplish its other tasks including the support to the transition process and to the organization of credible and fair elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
