MONUC peacekeeper dies of cardiac insufficiency


MONUC peacekeeper of the Bangladeshi contingent passed away Thursday 1st April 2004 in Pretoria, South Africa, following cardiac insufficiency.

The Warrant Officer Ahmed Farid Uddin was admitted into Pretoria hospital on 22 March 2004 as a result of the heart attack. He was working in Bunia within the Ituri Brigade.

The death of the Bangladeshi officer brings to 28 the number of the peacekeepers fallen since the deployment of the United Nations Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo in November 1999.
