The Kinshasa press today focuses exclusively on the state of the nation speech yesterday of president Joseph Kabila.

As envisaged, president Joseph Kabila addressed the nation yesterday Thursday 6 December 2007 in front of parliament.

Essentially, president Kabila estimates that "the situation is appreciably better than one year ago," said Le Palmarès.

And, even "... much better than 15 years ago," adds L'Avenir.

President Kabila "reaffirmed his determination to finish soon the crisis in the east with the assistance of the international community," states Le Palmarès.

He also "... warned the opportunists against any attempt to proceed to constitutional revision for politicking reasons," before " stating that year II of his mandate will have development and reconstruction as its tasks," Le Potentiel mentions.

For L'Avenir, Joseph Kabila was "convinving" yesterday.

Reason for which, "senators and appointed made him triumph with the Palais de Peuple people," Le Phare indicates.

Elsewhere in Nord Kivu, the FARDC, "continue their advance," informs Le Palmarès.

Indeed, day after day and explains L'Avenir, "the Congolese armed forces are marching incessantly on the positions at one time held by the insurrectionists."

This is why, president Kabila "threw flowers at the FARDC for having cleared several pockets of insecurity in North Kivu... with precarious means," recalls Le Phare.

Elsewhere, it is Monseigneur Monsengwo who, was named like "new archbishop of Kinshasa to replace the deceased cardinal Frederic Etsou," informs Le Potentiel.

To recall, Monseigneur Monsengwo was "since 1988 archbishop of Kisangani and president of the National Episcopal Conference of Congo since July 2004," informs Le Palmarès.

Beforehand, he had directed "with hands of a master the sovereign national conference of 1990 to 1992," adds Le Phare.
