Today's local press is mainly focused on the situation in the eastern DRC.
"Clashes took place yesterday at Rumamgabo, 50 kilometers from the town of Goma and in Rugari, 30 kilometers from the administrative town of North Kivu between FARDC troops and those loyal to the renegade Laurent N'Kunda," reports La Tempête des Tropiques.

"N'Kunda does receive support from Rwanda," says La Référence Plus, confirming "troop-contribution from Rwanda to Laurent N'kunda."

La Référence Plus also mentions a "a list of donors reportedly funding the renegade Laurent N'Kunda's rebellion as already circulating in Kinshasa."

La Tempête des Tropiques reports, "The recent clashes in North Kivu are an indication of how Laurent N'Kunda is defiant of the DRC's authorities and MONUC officials."

"...Laurent N'Kunda is under serious threat from the United Nations for enrolling by force several hundreds children ..." points out Le Palmarès.

In other news, La Tempête des Tropiques writes, "Swing is departing the DRC, leaving it at the starting point; in a mess exactly as it was before the transition and electoral process."

The same Friday, the Minister of Information issued a decree closing down "22 television channels and 14 radio stations across the DRC in an attempt to restore order to the media profession ," says L'Observateur..
