Two MONUC peacekeepers killed in car accident in Uganda

Two peacekeepers of the Nepali Battalion deployed to Mahagi in Ituri were killed yesterday, Sunday, 11 April, mid-day in a road accident, 18 km East of Nebbi in Uganda.
The accident, which left two dead and three injured, occurred as the vehicle, after having front and rear tyres bursts, went out of control and rolled over. The vehicle, which was part of a gas-supplying convoy, was also on Recce in that area.

The two cases bring to 36, the number of MONUC peacekeepers killed since the establishment of the UN Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo in November 1999.
