Today's local press mainly comments on the commemoration of the 47th anniversary of the DRC's independence.
"DRC Head of State has appealed to the Congolese people to respect the new institutional order," reports La Référence Plus.

Le Potentiel says "DRC State has reiterated his commitment to ensure that the reforms initiated a few years ago in the different sectors are pursued."

"Joseph Kabila conferred with Williams Swing over insecurity in eastern DRC," informs Le Phare, highlighting, "both personalities have the same approach of the eastern DRC's crisis and expressed the wish for both the Government and MONUC to work jointly for the restoration of a durable peace to the country."

"Two people killed in a plane crash, including the pilot, at Simi Simi airport amidst the celebration of the 37th Independence Day," reports Le Phare.

In other news, Le Palmarès says, "Jean-Pierre Bemba has answered back to President Kabila through RTB television channel in Portugal thus breaking his promise not to make any declaration while abroad."
